Mindful Ground: A Morning of Mindfulness at Candi Prambanan

On the morning of Saturday, 11 April 2026, Mindful Ground came alive at the iconic Candi Prambanan — one of Indonesia's most magnificent UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Surrounded by the grandeur of ancient Hindu temples set against the backdrop of the Javanese sky, 80 participants gathered to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with themselves, with nature, and with the people they love.

What made this gathering truly special was its reach. Attendees came not just from Yogyakarta, but from across Central Java, all the way to Yogyakarta. Some came with their partner, some brought their closest friends, and some even chose to celebrate their birthday in this sacred space. Mindful Ground Prambanan wasn't just an event, it was a memory made together.

Activities

The morning was filled with grounding, immersive experiences that invited participants to be fully present. Here's what unfolded:

Walking Meditation

Participants opened the session with a breathwork & gentle walking meditation guided by Isha Bella K, through the temple grounds of Candi Prambanan. Each step was intentional, a moving practice of presence. As the morning light kissed the stone carvings of Prambanan, participants were guided to tune into their breath, their body, and the earth beneath their feet. A truly rare and humbling experience.

Grounding Yoga

Next came a grounding yoga flow, practiced outdoors with the majestic temple silhouettes as the backdrop. The session focused on rooting down drawing energy from the earth and releasing tension from the body. Whether participants were longtime practitioners or complete beginners, the session was welcoming and deeply nourishing. This grounding yoga session led by sazougautama

Nutrition Workshop & Jamu Making Demo

The morning wrapped up with an insightful nutrition workshop by Isha Bella K, alongside a hands-on jamu making demonstration by JogJamu. Participants learned about the healing power of traditional Indonesian herbs and spices: turmeric, ginger, lemongrass and how to incorporate them into everyday wellness routines. Seeing (and tasting!) freshly made jamu was a highlight for many.

The Impact

The results of the morning were felt in every smile, every shared laugh, and every quiet exhale. Participants left feeling:

  • Happy and joyful: a lightness that comes from moving the body, breathing fresh air, and being surrounded by good energy.

  • Connected to heritage: blending into the magic of Prambanan, one of Indonesia's most treasured cultural landmarks, made the experience profoundly meaningful.

  • Closer to their loved ones: whether with a partner, a best friend, or a whole group, the shared experience deepened bonds.

  • Inspired to prioritize wellness: discovering that mindfulness, movement, and nourishment can be both accessible and beautiful.
